About VAL+

Independent developer. Direct communication.

I build Odoo modules, handle integrations, and investigate performance problems for businesses and implementation partners.

  • PrincipleWork with the person writing the code
  • ScopeDeliverables, exclusions, and acceptance checks written first
  • PaymentFixed quote after the scope is agreed
  • StandingIndependent, not affiliated with Odoo S.A.
Process

Four steps from problem to handover.

Development starts after scope and commercial agreement. New requirements need a scope review before they are built.

  1. Understand ProblemDescribe the workflow, the impact, and what should happen instead.
  2. Define ScopeAgree on deliverables, exclusions, acceptance checks, and a fixed quote.
  3. Build & ValidateDevelop the agreed changes and check them against the acceptance criteria.
  4. HandoverReview the work together and hand over code and practical notes.
Scope Boundaries

What I take on, and what I do not.

Saying no to work outside my competence is a technical decision too. A scope that is agreed on and then actually built well.

I take on

  • Custom Odoo modules, backend and frontend
  • API integrations, field mapping, error handling
  • Performance investigation: SQL, ORM, cron jobs
  • Module migrations across Odoo versions
  • Code review and architecture guidance for internal teams

I do not take on

  • Full end-to-end implementation without a clear scope
  • Ongoing support or a monthly retainer
  • Odoo Studio configuration with no code involved
  • Production access without a safe test environment
  • Work on personal data that is not anonymised

Tooling

  • Odoo CE dan EE, versi 16 sampai 20
  • Python, PostgreSQL, XML, QWeb, JS dengan OWL
  • Docker, GitHub Actions, Nginx, systemd
  • EXPLAIN ANALYZE, py-spy, pgAdmin
  • VS Code, Ruff, MyPy, pre-commit

A note on independence.

VAL+ is an independent development practice. There is no affiliation with Odoo S.A., no exclusivity with any partner, and no vendor commission behind a product recommendation. Technical advice here follows the state of your system, not a commission.

The published modules and the blog are material you can inspect yourself. None of it replaces checking fit against your own environment.
